Throughout 2018 Maroochy RSL made a huge difference to veteran support, community organisations, charities and vital services throughout the Sunshine Coast region and beyond, by donating $1.435 million in funding for their needs.
More than 150 community groups and organisations received donations, sponsorship and in-kind support over the past 12 months.
Veteran’s welfare services are always the focus, but many community groups also benefited, including local disability services provider Sunshine Butterflies, which was provided $10,000 by Maroochy RSL to assist completion of an activity shed.
Maroochy RSL is the only amalgamated not-for-profit RSL on the Sunshine Coast, when you visit us to enjoy yourself you are also giving back to the Sunshine Coast community.
Natasha Johnston, the founding director of Queensland charity Drought Angels, said Maroochy RSL and its team had given many farming families out west renewed hope that they would make it to the next rainfall.
“For a whole month Maroochy RSL members, staff and local community helped to raise over $22,000 for farming families doing it tough; that kind of huge effort showed people on the land that the Coast’s community had not forgotten them and were willing to give a little to keep food on their table too,” Ms Johnston said.
Maroochy RSL staff and CEO Clare Paton also gave their own time to voluntarily support fundraising and community events throughout the year.
“Giving back is one way that our team can offer their personal support and show that we really live our values of mate-ship,” she said.
