HISTORY OF MAROOCHY RSL

Founded ninety years ago, Maroochydore RSL Sub Branch was established in May 1932.

The doors to Maroochy RSL were first opened as a licensed club on 8 September 1972.

Originally called the Maroochydore and District Ex-Servicemen’s Memorial venue, Maroochydore RSL Sub Branch established an original Sub Committee in 1969 and through commitment, dedication and hard work, created a new committee in 1970.

REMEMBERING THOSE WHO SERVED

The Returned Services League of Australia (RSL) is an independent, apolitical organisation run by its members for its members. The wider community can join the RSL in commemorating all who have served, suffered, and died in war.

The RSL, through the Maroochy RSL Sub Branch, provides vital advocacy services for the ex-service members in our community and our current serving members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF).

ANZAC Day (25 April) is the most important national day of commemoration for Australians.

Remembrance Day (11 November) marks the anniversary of the armistice which ended the First World War in 1918. It is the second of Australia’s two major national days of commemoration.
